Hola! We are a family of professional Spanish instructors in San Andrés Huayapam, Oaxaca, who would love to welcome you to La Casita at Interactive Spanish Learning and stay in our eco-friendly room. We offer one private room and bathroom in our building for our Spanish students. The room is available for one person, or a couple.
After classes, feel free to use the entire house to yourself: cook a meal, hang out in the living room, work or unwind in our garden, patio, terrace or studio. Improve your Spanish, explore the surroundings, practice the new vocabulary from your classes, learn about local traditions, and enjoy having a homemade breakfast & Spanish conversation with your instructors every morning.
If you are interested in an authentic Spanish immersion experience in Mexico, you don't want to speak/hear English, and you are an independent & adventurous traveler, contact us, we will be happy to help you plan your visit!

How do I know if your programs are for me?
Our programs are for you, if:
- your main goal is to learn Spanish
- you like to challenge yourself
- you are adventurous & independent
- you want to avoid speaking English
- you won't miss the amenities/services of a city
- you are not scared of trying out your Spanish in normal day-to day situations
- you want to experience the slow-paced life of a rural Mexican village
- you enjoy exploring and spending time on your own, without depending on a group, or other students
How many rooms do you have?
We have one double occupancy room.
Can I use my own preferred personal hygiene products during my stay?
Sorry, but no. We use only natural and biodegradable cleaning products. In order to take care of our natural gray water filter system and constructed wetland, we strongly ask that you only use the products provided by the school: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, toothpaste, and dish soap. Thank you! :)
Are you pet-friendly?
All dogs with responsible owners are welcome only during class hours. Unfortunately, we don't accept pets for staying in our guest room.
Can you accommodate vegans/vegetarians?
No problem! We can adapt to any dietary needs or allergy restrictions.
Do you serve breakfast everyday?
We serve breakfast Monday thru Saturday, starting the morning after your arrival. Sunday is a good opportunity for our visitors to support local eateries, because there are more places open to try traditional food. Huayapam is a favorite for Oaxaca City people to come eat breakfast or lunch on the weekends.
Where are your Spanish classes held?
Classes are at our building, but during class we can visit other places in Huayapam, or in nearby towns (El Tule, Teotitlán del Valle, Mitla or Matatlán).
How do I book my stay?
- Fill out our reservation form.
- Receive from us a confirmation for your chosen dates and payment info.
- Pay a 50% deposit via Xoom.com or Wise.com.
Can I add nights to my immersion package?
Yes, the cost per additional night is:
1 person: 40 USD
2 people: 50 USD
Can I book the room without paying for an immersion package?
Yes, you can book the room for at least 3 nights.
Cost per night*:
1 person: 100 USD
2 people: 120 USD
*Get a discount when booking 5 or more nights.

Our Eco-Friendly School
Our Eco-Friendly School
We use local and organic ingredients, local workforce, and public transport. We prioritize water conservation and minimize waste generation.
Our school exclusively employs biodegradable and natural cleaning products. We've implemented a biofilter system for treating and reusing greywater. The last phase of our system involves a small constructed wetland, providing a habitat for insects and frogs, where water is further cleaned by plants. A portion of this treated water is then returned to the groundwater table.

Your Teachers
Español Interactivo was founded in 1997, in Downtown Oaxaca City.
By the time the pandemic hit in 2020, we were already being pushed out of the city because of the ever growing gentrification, so we had to close our school.
This didn't stop our love for teaching Spanish and for sharing our culture with people from other countries, so we decided to build a special home for that purpose: A Spanish immersion experience in Oaxaca in a small-scale, family environment.
